Join local stonecutter Scott Stewart for a granite block shaping demonstration! Scott will also discuss the different types of cuts favored by the cities Cape Ann quarries exported to. Following this demonstration, please register to join us for a CAM Gallery Talk by Susanna Natti, exploring the impact of the granite industry on Cape Ann’s immigrant populations.
Scott Stewart is a skilled stonecutter and lifelong resident of Gloucester, Massachusetts, known for his deep connection to Cape Ann’s rugged landscape and rich artisan traditions. His work often reflects the natural beauty and durability of the stone that defines Gloucester’s shoreline and architecture. As part of a family with deep roots in the area, Stewart continues to uphold the legacy of traditional stonework while mentoring younger artisans and preserving the character of his hometown through every chisel and cut.
