The GHS Medical Assisting teacher will develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that aligns with state frameworks and industry standards, preparing students for careers in a variety of health-related fields. The Medical Assisting teacher will teach and train high school students to assist doctors and nurses in providing care to their patients including: recording and updating medical histories and contact information in patient files, scheduling patient appointments and performing standard care procedures like drawing blood, checking vitals or collecting lab samples. Essential employability skills will be integrated throughout the instruction for entry-level medical assisting positions.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the standards-based curriculum, instruction, and assessment of students in the Medical Assisting program
  • Responsible for differentiating instructional methods for the purpose of providing an effective program that addresses individual student learning needs
  • Responsible for communicating and collaborating with students, families, and colleagues to promote student learning and growth
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining work-based learning opportunities for students and community partnerships
  • Responsible for the performance of other job-related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
  • Associate degree or higher degree related to the subject matter and skills to be taught, required. ? At least four (4) years of relevant experience, required.
  • National certification as a medical assistant or medical assistant/secretary (Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant).
  • Massachusetts teacher licensure in Medical Assisting - Chapter 74 or willingness to complete Massachusetts teacher licensure in Medical Assisting - Chapter 74, including earning a passing score on required tests.

STATUS: full-time
SALARY: per GTA Contract
