Description
"The Page" is the epic tale of an English girl, Samantha Elizabeth Collins, and her journey of self-discovery and coming-of-age during the turbulent 17th century. It takes place during Captain John Smith's 1614 voyage to the New World to map out what eventually became known as Cape Ann. She faces devastating parental loss and a rat-infested workhouse orphanage before masquerading as a boy for her own survival, thus becoming a page to Captain Smith. She endures a nightmarish sea voyage, and as a member of Smith's crew, battles then trades with the local indigenous Agawam people. Upon learning their spiritual ways, she reconnects with the spirit of her mother who was hanged as a witch. After heroically rescuing her captain from French pirates, Samantha's secret is revealed, resulting in a climactic battle of sword and sentiment with Smith himself. This poignant, original musical has it all! A perfect blend of historical fact and fantasy.
