King Tide Hike

Join us to enjoy a guided hike with sunset views while also viewing the “wicked high tide” or king tide cover the marshes and coastline around The Crane Estate.

This high tide is royalty! Here’s your chance to see the king….tide that is. Join us for a hike to learn about “wicked” high tides, known as king tides, which are happening more often and becoming more impactful due to environmental change. These extreme tides have a variety of impacts on the coast, including blocking access on low lying roads, flooded buildings, and impacts of erosion, debris, and salt-water damage. The king tide also provides us with a window to the future, illustrating what an average high tide might look like in a few decades due to sea level rise. On this hike you will learn what causes king tides, see the tidal impacts first-hand, and learn what The Trustees are doing to increase the coastal resilience of our treasured coastal environments.

This event is suited for all ages and will include a short indoor presentation about king tides and then a hike to view the king tide.

Accessibilility: Please be prepared for a moderately strenuous 2 mile hike over gravel grass & woodland trails with moderate elevation gain.

Program Refunds/Cancellations: In the event that a program is cancelled due to severe weather, low enrollment, or other circumstances, we will notify you as soon as possible by email and issue you a full refund within 14 days of the cancellation. If you cannot attend a program as planned, contact the Trustees property 7 days prior to the start of the program to receive a full refund or to be rebooked into a future available event. Refunds will not be granted for registration cancellations placed fewer than 7 days before the start of the program for any reason. There are no refunds for missed events or late arrivals. The Trustees reserves the right to change program locations, schedules, or instructors when necessary. Note: Summer Camps and our inns and campgrounds each have separate cancellation policies.

The starting location and other relevant details for all events will be emailed to registrants approximately 24 hours before the event start at the address provided upon registration. Please note that registration closes 24 hours before the start of the event and we will not be able to accommodate walk-ins or on-site sales. Thank you for understanding.
