With a voice that often recalls the great Billie Holiday, Peyroux's repertoire mixes pre-war blues and jazz standards, contemporary classics (Bob Dylan, Serge Gainsbourg, Elliott Smith) with her own strong compositions. Peyroux learned her craft busking on the streets of Paris, singing blues and early jazz tunes until eventually graduating to Rounder Records where her unique phrasing and earthy tones found a quick audience. She has now released seven acclaimed records, the most recent being Blue Room, an homage to Ray Charles' sophisticated blend of jazz, soul and country.
