Description
Are you concerned about rising housing prices in Gloucester, worried about whether your family can stay here, or seeing friends, neighbors, coworkers, or adult children struggle to find a home they can afford? Do you struggle to recruit and retain employees because of a lack of attainable housing options? The City wants to hear from you.
I’m reaching out to invite you to the City’s Housing Compass Community Forum on Wednesday, July 29, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Rose Baker Center for Aging Well.
This will be an important opportunity for community members to learn about the draft Housing Compass Plan, which will help guide Gloucester’s housing priorities for the next five years. The City will share draft recommendations and invite feedback before the plan is finalized.
The plan has been shaped by data on Gloucester’s housing needs, as well as input from more than 550 residents, workers, employers, seniors, artists, families, and community organizations. What we have heard is clear: housing affordability, year-round housing options, workforce stability, downsizing opportunities, and the ability for people to stay in Gloucester are major concerns for the community.
At the forum, you’ll be able to see how public input is reflected in the draft plan and share your thoughts on whether the recommendations are headed in the right direction. The event will also feature a video produced by 1623 Studios highlighting Gloucester’s housing needs and the people affected by housing challenges in our community.
The forum is free and family-friendly, with activities available for children.
Please consider attending and sharing this invitation with neighbors, friends, family, coworkers, or anyone who cares about Gloucester’s future.
