Starting in the late 1880's and continuing through the end of the First World War, wealthy families from as near as Boston, and as far as St. Louis, Chicago and New York City, discovered Manchester and began to purchase property and build far from modest "summer cottages." Our exhibit provides a close look at just a few of the more than forty such cottages that were built during this period. In addition, you will get a glimpse of one of the Gilded Age's most famous summer resort hotels, the Masconomo House, and meet some of the locals who catered to the needs of the wealthy summer residents. Tues - Wed 10:00a.m. - 3:00p.m.
