Description
The White-Ellery House (1710) has been owned by the Cape Ann Museum since 1947 and is one of just a handful of?early eighteenth-century?structures in the region exhibiting much of its original interior detailing. Since 2010, the House has served as the backdrop for a series of contemporary art installations.
This July, fine art photographer and arts educator Patricia Scialo will be installing a community-created Cyanotype Sun Mural along with her own cyanotype works. Concentrating on historic and alternative processes in photography, Patricia creates handmade unique prints using mixed media techniques. Her recent pieces incorporate handmade paper, encaustic, and hand tinting. The Cyanotype Sun Mural will be made in a workshop at CAM Green on Sunday, July 10 using the historic photographic process of cyanotype sun printing to craft designs with local maritime and natural objects.
The installation will be open to the public from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm on Friday, July 15 and Saturday, July 16 and from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm on Sunday, July 17. Patricia will be on-site to discuss the artwork and do demonstrations with a vintage camera on Sunday from 1:00 – 4:00 pm.
