Description
What Is A Death Café?
At a Death Cafe people gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death.
Our objective is 'to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives'.
It is a self-directed adult discussion group with no agenda and no objectives.
This is not a support group nor a venue for bereavement. It is an opportunity to explore thoughts, feelings and questions about death in an open, non-judgmental setting.
Please bring an open mind, a willingness to share your thoughts and an interest in hearing what others have to say. There will be cake!
Death Cafes are always offered:
• With no intention of leading participants to any conclusion, product or course of action.
• As an open, respectful and confidential space where people can express their views safely.
• On a not for profit basis.
• Alongside refreshing drinks and nourishing food – and cake!
Death Café was founded by Jon Underwood based on the work of Bernard Crettaz. Lizzy Miles was the first person to offer Death Café in the US.
