Taking the helm as President and CEO at Celebrity Cruises in 2014, Lutoff-Perlo is a recognized trailblazer in the global hospitality industry. She is the driving force behind transforming and re-defining today’s new luxury cruise experience, with a bold, innovative approach to ship design and service. A purpose-driven leader, Lutoff-Perlo has catalyzed cultural progress in the 200-year-old cruise industry by appointing the first American female Captain, the first West-African woman to work on the bridge of a cruise ship and, ultimately, increasing Celebrity’s percentage of women on the bridge to 32%, where the industry average is 2%. She has also established industry-leading partnerships with the World Wildlife Foundation (WWF), the Ghana Maritime Academy and many others.

Panelists:
Beth Francis, President and CEO of Essex County Community Foundation
I have always been inspired by nonprofit leaders who work hard for the communities they serve. It doesn’t matter to me what the nonprofit does, but if they do it with compassion, and, in the process, celebrate the people or causes they serve, I can’t help but be moved.
It’s probably why I chose a career in the nonprofit sector nearly 30 years ago, as a fresh new Public Relations and Communications graduate of Marquette University. Many of the early years of my career I spent in development and communications at the YMCA of the North Shore, raising vital funds for annual, capital and endowment support, while building the brand of the organization. Before that, I was the organization’s director of product development. In 2016, I joined ECCF as the vice president for development and worked to expand our donor base and, together with our dedicated staff, helped to increase ECCF’s overall impact in Essex County. ECCF’s increasing presence in our region is something I am very proud of.
Today, my role as President and CEO is truly a labor of love. I owe a great deal to my family and especially my husband, Rich – a Gloucester High School history teacher – who supports the work I do and the schedule it takes to do it. His partnership allows me the dedication to do a job I truly love, for a community I truly love.
When I’m not working, I enjoy paddle boarding and photography. At the top of my lifetime to-do list is a road trip with my family to visit every Major League Baseball park in the country. Also on deck is the NYC Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Grand Canyon and a visit to Greece.
