Description
Windhover is pleased to announce our big upcoming modern dance performance featuring works by two stellar companies: BoSoma Dance Company and Alison Cook Beatty Dance. This event brings together two distinguished artistic ensembles, offering a unique opportunity to experience their work on one stage at Windhover. Alison Cook Beatty Dance, based in New York City, will perform a curated selection of new works, plus one older work, including “Enlightenment” which uses sections of a sermon by Dr. Martin Luther King and explores the politics and culture of America in 2025.. “Bist du Bei Mir, Through the Panes,” is set to the music of J.S. Bach, and “Houston Street Hootenanny”, which explores the artistic and musical culture of Greenwich Village in NYC in the 1960’s. Founded in 2012, Alison Cook Beatty Dance is a classically based modern dance company exploring the universal human condition through expansive and emotionally driven movement grounded in American modern dance. The healing and transformational power of the arts inspire the company to work with diverse groups within the community and collaborate with other artists across multiple disciplines.
Additionally, BoSoma will perform a number of group works that combine vibrant, energetic movement with athletic performances. Established in 2003 by Irada Djelassi and Katherine Hooper, BoSoma Dance Company (BDC), is a North Shore-based non-profit contemporary dance company whose mission is to make dance captivating and accessible through dynamic performance and community education. Under the artistic direction of dancer, choreographer and educator Katherine Hooper, BDC has premiered over 50+ original works by Hooper and performed commissions from outstanding organizations.
