Description
Join Gloucester 400+ for an enthralling presentation and dialogue with Sebastian Junger, author of The Perfect Storm.
Commemorate, celebrate, and promote knowledge of Gloucester's cultural, social, ethnic, and economic diversity is the mission of Gloucester 400+.
The year 2023 marks 400 years in the history of America's oldest seaport recognizing its settlement by English colonizers in 1623. The theme of the quadricentennial "Our People, Our Stories" focuses on commemorating Gloucester's history through the lives of all those who lived here, including Indigenous peoples, English colonists, free Blacks, enslaved Africans, the many waves of immigrants who built this city from past to present and those who have visited. The anniversary seeks to be truthful in telling the complex story of the place that is now called Gloucester across its 400+ years.
