The Gloucester Racial Justice Team (GRJT) is organizing its third, community-wide book reading project, this time in partnership with Cape Ann Pride (CAP). The book we are reading is “Pretty: A Memoir” by KB Brookins, an accessible, captivating memoir about race and gender. The book is a winner of the 2025 Lambda Literary Award, and has been described as A fierce and disciplined memoir about queerness, masculinity, and race (Penguin Random House).Books are available to borrow now from the Sawyer Free

The iconic Matthew Swift Gallery adjacent to Blue River Diamonds on Main Street has closed after over a decade of representing some of the top artists in Gloucester. Matthew represented his artists with integrity, kindness and great artistic and historic knowledge. His reach went far beyond the local and regional markets of the north shore and New England, and extended to representing his artists on an east coast and national basis. He will be missed by so many as the gallery turned into community space
