Join us THIS WEEKEND at the North Shore Arts Association, September 13 & 14 for "Ship Shape: Painting the Shapes of Boats with Pastels", taught by Janet Schwartz! Janet is a practicing artist and art instructor who uses pastels to capture the effects of light in nature, architecture, and urban scenes, with a recent focus on ships and the shoreline. She brings a unique, emotionally resonant perspective to her work and teaches workshops throughout New England that emphasize value and composition. Janet holds numerous honors, including Master Circle Pastelist of the International Association of Pastel Societies, and is a signature member and board member of several prestigious art organizations.

This 2-day workshop will explore the majestic and elegant shapes of boats, focusing on the principles of value and composition. Students will use pastels and reference photos to explore the importance of value, simplify what they see, and not get stuck on the details. The class will include instructor demonstrations, interaction, and individual critiques.
