John has been chosen as the Gloucester Small Business Person of the year for 2018.\n\nJohn has a solid business background with over 50 years of retail sales\, business management\, hospitality and operations. John's early career was at Art Jewelers\, a long-time retail institution on Main Street. There he dealt with inventory control\, merchandising\, sales and displays. He helped turn a small jewelry store into a million dollar retail outlet. John was also responsible for customer service\, scheduling\, human resources and benefits.\n\nMoving on in his career\, John used his operational and management skills at the Harborview Inn which he and his wife\, Marie\, bought in 1994. This lovely Inn\, located on Gloucester's beautiful harbor\, is a bed and breakfast offering six rooms. The Inn has become very popular with visitors along with friends and families of Gloucester residents. John has become very involved with the city's tourism economy and is widely respected and admired for his dedication and promotion of Gloucester.\n\nJohn has two sons and a daughter along with three grandsons. They all keep him busy when he is not out at the front of the Inn working on the beautiful gardens he maintains.
