DESCRIPTION:Congratulations to David Brown\, of Shea's Riverside Restaurant & Bar\; and Shea's Riverside Inn & Motel! David has been chosen as the Essex Small Business Person of the Year for 2018.\n\nDavid Brown is the owner of one of Essex's most successful restaurants dedicated to serving fresh Seafood and American cuisine attracting family and business diners with its culinary excellence.\n\n \n\nDavid's personal history parallels his entrepreneurial achievements. Growing up in Groveland\, MA\, David has been involved in the restaurant industry since his teens\, and by his early-twenties\, acquired Ten Center St./Molly's Pub in Newburyport MA. Under David's tutelage 10 Center St grew to become the place to dine in Newburyport and Molly's Pub as the place to gather regularly for local residents and friends\, for many years.\n\n \n\nDavid sold the business and moved to the West Coast for about 6 years and focused on other business ventures outside of the restaurant and hospitality arena. \n\n \n\nEventually\, the East Coast was calling him home\, and after hiking part the Appalachian Trail\, David \n\nresettled back on the North Shore.\n\n \n\nAfter looking at 22 Restaurants in the Cape Ann area\, he purchased Tom Shea's in 2007\, did a major remodel\, and changed the name to Shea's Riverside Restaurant & Bar bringing his skill and passion for food\, wine and hospitality to Essex!\n\n \n\nIn 2014\, David purchased the Essex River House Motel. The Inn underwent a major renovation based on David's vision\, and proudly re-opened as Shea's Riverside Inn & Motel in 2015\n\n \n\nLastly\, in 2017\, David and his partner Mary welcomed their beautiful daughter Gabby who has become a bit of a regular herself at Shea's!
