Event Description:
Artist Marion Hall to Exhibit: A Sea of Water Colors
Marion Hall, Manchester watercolorist, will have a solo show of her paintings at the Manchester Historical Museum running from October 5 to November 10, 2018.  The theme of the show is “A Sea of Watercolors,” exhibiting several dozen paintings of her favorite subjects, beaches, birds, sailboats, marches, seascapes, flowers, woodlands, lighthouses, villages, and vistas … painted in fascinating colors that will capture you from across the room.  On the opening weekend, she will have receptions on Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 PM and then on Saturday from 10-1 AM at the Manchester Historical Museum, 10 Union Street, Manchester, Massachusetts 01944.

Marion has been painting for twenty years and has developed the combined styles of an impressionist and realist, using vivid color, light and shadow, reflection, and sufficient detail to reveal new insights into the world around her.  Her work has had a remarkable appeal for art lovers and she has been recognized for her artistic talents every year in regional and national juried shows on Cape Ann, in New England, and in Southwest Florida.  During 2018 alone, at the Rockport Art Association, she received the following awards:
• Mary Bryan Memorial Award for watercolor – 2nd Summer Show
• Chip Davis Wells & Amee B. Davis Memorial Award for excellence in painting – 3rd Summer Show
• Geneva Underwood Award for excellence in watercolor – 4th Summer Show

About her painting Marion says, “Painting is a gift. You look at the natural world in a different way.  You see new details.  You see the way in which light dances from one surface to the next, around you and around your subjects.  I especially like to experiment with colors. Painting is my passion and a very fulfilling way to share what I see and feel.”

Marion is an Artist Member of the Rockport Art Association and the North Shore Arts Association.  Marion is a Signature Member of the New England Watercolor Society.  She is a Cape Ann Museum Docent.  She is an exhibiting artist and member of the Marblehead Art Association and the Sanibel-Captiva Art League.  Before her career as a watercolorist Marion was a Physical Therapist in the schools in Manchester, Rockport, Essex, and Hamilton-Wenham and she worked for the visiting nurse associations in Manchester, Gloucester, Rockport, and Beverly.  She is an alumna of Tufts University and Northeastern University.  Marion Hall lives and teaches watercolor painting in her Manchester Studio and The Art Room in Topsfield. She vacations and teaches on Upper Captiva Island, Florida.
