As always\, the tasting is elevated using our imported Riedel glassware   \n\n\n\nWHY: This testing selection offers a special learning experience in the unique ways these wines are produced\, acclaimed to under-the-radar appellations i.e. from the Piedmont to Contra Costa County. Casey will guide us through this memorable tasting sharing unexpected food pairings leaning toward holiday fare.\n\n\n\nWHO: Joining Savour owner & wine merchant Kathleen Morgan is Guest Host and knowing wine-guy Casey Gruttadaria\n\n\n\nWHEN: This Saturday\, November 6th\, from 2p to 4p at Savour\n\n\n\nHOW: Saturday tastings are complimentary\, as is parking behind the store with rear entrance.\n\n\n\nSaturday's Pourings include:\n\nDomaine Patrice Colin NV\, 'Perles Grises'\, Fermentation Naturelle\, Loire\, Organic\, Varietal: Pineau d' Aunis\, a sparkling red\, Alc. 11% Tasting: its first fermentation in the bottle gives  this traditional method a bright sparkling wine with a spicy\, fruity character that is crisp and light. Drink this as an ap ritif. Pairs well:  Rating: Wine Enthusiast 85      \n\n\n\nJosef & Philipp Brundlmayer Cesterrich Riad Vordernberg\, Neuburger\, Austria Varietal: Gruner Veltliner\, Alc. 13%\, Tasting: Quite savoury and mineral fell to nose with brine / stones alongside grapefruit\, light peach\, whit pepper. Dry\, fresh\, and savoury on the palate with salt and ripe lemons\, Pairs well: Vegetarian\, pork\, poultry\, lean fish.\n\n\n\nL'intrus\, Maison Ventenac\, red\, Varietal: Cabernet Franc\, Fr.\, 2019  Alc. 13.5 %\, Tasting: Perfumed nose.  Intense opening\, expressive flavors  from cranberry\, cherry\, mint\, ripe bromberry to green herbs. Fruit-forward\, thirst quenching. Medium dry finish a well-balanced\, smooth wine. Pairs well: Perfect pairing wine for mildly-flavored meat dishes\, antipasti  appetizers.\n\n\n\nCantina del Pino\, Oyello - Barbaresco\, Piedmont\, It.\, 2015\, Varietal: Nebbiolo\, Alc. 14%\, Tasting: Violet\, star anise\, woodberry and camphor aromas. Savory on palate delivers juicy Marasca cheery\, pomegranate\, licorice\, and orange zest with taut\, fine-grained tannins for support. Well-balanced with fresh acidity. Pairs well: beef\, pasta\, lamb\, game (deer\, venison)\, Rating: Wine Enthusiast 95\n\n\n\nMataro\, Erggelet Brothers\, CA\, Central Coast\, Contra Costa County\, Varietal: Mataro (Mourvedre)\, Del Barba Vineyard\, old vines\, Alc. 14.4%\, Tasting: The Mataro grape\, AKA Mourvedre\, is oak aged but the fruit is bright with floral undertones of red roses\, orange zest\, sage\, blackberry\, raspberry and black plum\,..the queen of a BBQ.
