SUMMARY:Protection: Abstract Art Exhibit at Hammond Castle Museum
DESCRIPTION:Contemporary artist and Montserrat College of Art Alumni\, Sarah Dineen has amassed an army of painted helmets\, shields\, tubes\, and microphone-trees lining the Great Hall of Hammond Castle Museum. Working in multiples to magnify the uncanny human and industrial presence of each form\, she uses abstraction to suggest familiarity while leaving open to the viewer the possibilities of their own imagination. Dineen's work celebrates the physicality of painting and its capacity to echo the properties of protective coverings like metal and bark. Themes of protection personal power\, love\, and connection run throughout the work. This exhibit features nine large-scale sculptures and 32 paintings. All pieces are available for purchase and a portion of the proceeds will support Hammond Castle Museum.\n\nDineen will host an opening reception on March 19th from 5pm to 8pm and a closing reception on March 30th from 6pm to 8pm. Both receptions and the exhibit are free and open to the public. Guests will have limited access to the first floor of Hammond Castle Museum which will include the Great Hall and Courtyard. Parking is free.
