SUMMARY:"Pint for a Pint" Dana-Farber Blood Drive
DESCRIPTION:A little over 18 months ago\, True North Brewery opened its doors to us hosting our first Hook-A-Cure ( hookacure.org) fundraiser. As a small but growing charity created to fight cancer in my husband's memory\, every out stretched hand means another step forward in our ability to raise funds\, expand outreach\, and help families devastated by a cancer diagnosis. The business community of Ipswich embraced our event and thanks to all\, the fundraiser was a great success.\n\nFired up and ready to go in 2020\, we planned additional fundraisers\, a "Hop-Over" Brewery event to introduce our Partner - 3x Super Bowl winner Joe Andruzzi 's and his Foundation (JAF)\, as well as a "Tailgate" fundraiser all housed at True North...the future look wonderful!\n\nThen\, as we are all aware\, Covid hit and all our best laid plans died on the vine. Being a charity that lives and breathes live events to accomplish our goals\, the inability to do so drove us crazy!\n\nAn alert from the Red Cross and Dana-Farber helped us find a way to contribute again. Due to an ongoing uncertainly surrounding Covid-19\, as well as school sites and other public places being closed - blood drives were in desperate need of help. What better way for Hook-A-Cure to take a step in another direction to help those with cancer? Hosting a blood drive was something we could do pandemic or not.\n\nSo\, on 11/7/20\, we held our first blood drive with the Red Cross at True North and our "Pint for a Pint" Event was born to great success! Through the generosity of the North Shore participants\, we received enough blood donations to save up to 114 people - Thank-you does not seem to say enough!\n\nTo better align with our mission\, we have now partnered up with the Kraft Family Blood Donor Center and the Dana-Farber Institute/Brigham and Woman's Hospital Blood Mobile. Though we love the Red Cross and their mission\, we wanted to concentrate our efforts on Cancer patients. Our mission partners with the Joe Andruzzi Foundation that supports families financially devastated by a cancer diagnosis as well as Dana-Farber and it's amazing research. It was just a perfect match.
