DESCRIPTION:Beginning with the Gloucester Fishermen's Wives Memorial\, then progressing through more of her work\, Morgan Faulds Pike will present an illustrated talk about the details and stages in building sculpture: design\, materials\, site contextualization\, engineering\, foundry techniques\, and community participation. Her talk will be given in tribute to her gentle mentors\, Charles Fisk\, Walker Hancock\, Ann Fisk\, and many others whose wise council contributed to the forming of sculpture and the formation of a sculptor. As part of the current special exhibition\, In the Round: 20th Century Cape Ann Sculpture\, the half-size model of the Fisherman's Wives Memorial is currently on display. \n\nMorgan Faulds Pike is a professional sculptor who lives in Rockport\, MA. She has created sculpture in bronze\, wood\, and stone for public and private settings across the country. She has had one-woman shows at the Rockport Art Association and Museum\, Rockport\, MA\, and The Colby College Museum of Art in Waterville\, ME. She is best known on Cape Ann for her 2001 Gloucester Fishermen's Wives Memorial on the boulevard waterfront in Gloucester\, MA and her 2017 Reredos Altarpiece for St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Rockport\, MA.
