SUMMARY:A Few Thoughts on Color: A Color Demonstration by Jeff Weaver
DESCRIPTION:Meet artist Jeff Weaver who will talk about his approaches and thoughts on color mixing and approaches to color in painting.\n\nJeff Weaver is a Gloucester-based painter whose work has become synonymous with the character and complexity of Cape Ann's built and working landscapes. A graduate of the Boston Museum School\, Weaver settled in Gloucester in the early 1970s and quickly immersed himself in the visual language of the city its architectural variety\, aging wharves\, and ever-changing waterfront.\n\nEarly in his career\, Weaver completed commissions for fishing vessel captains and created murals for commercial and private spaces\, ultimately producing more than thirty murals across Gloucester. In the 1990s\, he returned his focus to fine art\, developing a body of work that captures both the iconic and the overlooked corners of the city. His paintings and drawings reflect a deep commitment to observing Gloucester as it truly is\, finding beauty and meaning in scenes that often go unnoticed.\n\nWorking within the American Realist tradition and informed by 20th-century developments in gesture\, line\, and compositional structure\, Weaver emphasizes the interplay of light\, shadow\, and form. These elements anchor his strong graphic style and reveal the city's authentic personality.\n\nWeaver continues to live and work on the Gloucester waterfront\, where he maintains his studio/gallery and remains an active interpreter of the region's evolving landscape.
