DESCRIPTION:Brendan Evans presents a program of guitar music centered around works by\n\nAugustin Barrios and Manuel Ponce - a set of waltzes full of virtuosic and\n\nmelodious springtime energy\, followed by an extended meditation on the\n\nmedieval musical schema La Folia. Join Cape Ann Guitar Society in the beautiful\n\nSt. Anthony's by the Sea for an evening recital by founder Brendan Evans.\n\n\n\nClassical guitarist Brendan Evans has performed\, taught\, and won awards\n\nthroughout North America and around the world. His debut album\, Tiento\,\n\nwas released in January of 2026 on Green Flash Records. A Rockport\,\n\nMassachusetts native\, Brendan performs and teaches locally and\n\ninternationally\, is the founder of Cape Ann Guitar Society\, and enjoys playing\n\nin various groups\, including the original project Nightowls. Brendan holds a\n\nBachelor's and a Master's degree in classical guitar performance from the\n\nOberlin and San Francisco Conservatories. While pursuing his undergraduate\n\ndegree Brendan spent a year studying flamenco guitar in the cities of\n\nGranada and Cordoba\, Spain.\n\n\n\nCape Ann Guitar Society is dedicated to building and nurturing a community of\n\nlistening and learning through guitar related concerts\, workshops\, and meetups.\n\nAs a maritime center\, Cape Ann's culture is inherently diverse\, and we seek out\,\n\nrepresent\, and learn from that diversity through the guitar. The Guitar Society\n\namplifies local voices and brings visiting artists and teachers to Cape Ann\,\n\nconnecting our local communities with the global guitar family - music as cultural\n\ndiplomacy. We seek to expand the repertoire through commissioning projects\n\nand collaborate with other local arts and historical organizations.\n\n\n\nConsecrated in 1925\, St. Anthony's by the Sea is a fieldstone church\n\nconstructed in the English parish gothic style\, and is a member of Gloucester's\n\nHoly Family Parish.
